Herbie grew up on the streets of Manila. At eight, he was selling cigarettes. At 12, he was addicted to drugs. At 21, he was a gang leader, but his gang was busted by the police. So he decided to become a taxi driver and learn English so he could take advantage of foreigners riding in his taxi. One day he borrowed a book from a friend. It was a Gideon New Testament. With a dictionary on hand, he studied English using the New Testament. In his desire to learn good English so he could victimize foreigners, he found Christ instead! Herbie later held a leadership position in a prominent Scripture distribution ministry.
